Barter Your Way To FREE Advertising
In this high-tech world of ours, us marketers tend to forget about some effective old-fashion low-cost methods of promoting our products or services. One of the "old-fashion" marketing methods I like to use is - Bartering. In the old days of commerce, before standard currency was even available, bartering ones product or service for another was a very acceptable way of conducting business. It's always a win-win situation since both parties usually obtain a FAIR deal from one another.

As creative marketers we could easily use this same exact concept as an excellent low-cost promotional tool. You most likely have something other companies could use internally or to offer to their customers. In exchange, you could ask the bartering party to promote your business.

For example, if you ran a graphic design business, you could easily approach your local Business Radio Station and offer to design their newsletters, flyers or even promotional T-shirts for FREE. In return for your KIND free service, they allow you to include your company information on all the materials that you produce, and also announce your excellent work to their listeners. Another twist is to get a FREE rental of their current advertising sponsors list to send out your information. This mailer could be in a form of a special discount for your services…exclusively for Station XYZ's advertisers.

Another added option is for the Radio Station to bundle your discounted service for their prospective advertisers as a special limited-time promotional offer. If the advertiser commits to advertising within a certain deadline, they get 45%-50% discount off your service. You may not make much profit on the first design job, but imagine all the new business you'll get at absolutely no advertising cost! Don't worry too much about the first order…your profit will come from the 2nd, 3rd & 4th orders of that same customer. This is a "no-cost" way to build your customer base.

How hard is this type of bartering? Simple! In January of 2000 I completed a very similar barter concept with one of the Internet's top toolbar advertising firms (Can't disclose their name by agreement). They agreed to expose my product advertisement 4 million times (yes - millions) to users of their custom promotional toolbar. In exchange, I gave them advertising space on one of our company's software screen.

Do you know how much 4 million exposures would have cost me with this company? Even at a very low rate of $5 CPM, I would have had to pay over $20,000!

You know how much it cost me to add their advertisement on our software? Close to $0 - zilch! This entire Bartering Agreement took me less than 2-3 weeks to complete and the benefits are unbelievable! As you can see - Bartering works!

Try it for yourself…you'll be amazed with the results - Good Luck!
